When you want out but God says “no”.
Question to Consider –
Have you ever come to the point where you feel like your soul is dying — like you can hardly breathe — and you just wish your reality could somehow change? Maybe you’ve felt trapped because you know your situation can’t be reversed and the only option is to walk through it. You can’t escape it, can’t fix it, can’t make it go away.
Girlfriend, I’ve been there. It’s a hard, overwhelming place to be. You’d do almost anything to make it stop — even give up your life for the cause.
Bible Verse –
“He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, ‘My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.’”
— Matthew 26:39 (NLT)
Reflection –
In this gut-wrenching moment, Jesus shows us what surrender looks like. He didn’t pretend the pain wasn’t real or that the situation didn’t hurt — He asked for another way. But then He released it: “Not my will, but yours be done.”
That’s the hardest kind of surrender — the one that comes when nothing can change and we have to trust that God’s will, even when it feels unbearable, is still best. He allows things in our lives for a purpose. We may never fully understand it, but that’s not the point. The question isn’t why, it’s will we surrender it to Him for His glory?
Friend, I know it’s hard. It’s painful. But sweet surrender will carry you. Because we know the end of the story — victory, redemption, and resurrection always follow surrender.
Practical Action Step –
Take a quiet moment today and pray honestly. Tell God how much you wish your situation was different. Then, with open hands, whisper, “Not my will, but Yours.”
Let that be your act of trust — your offering of sweet surrender.
